Application Process for Outgoing Exchange Students

Step 1

Before Starting Application

  • Attend an information meeting, held every Tuesday & Thursday during U-hour at the International Center
  • Speak with a Study Abroad Advisor

Complete International Center Application PDF

Complete Academic Advisement Agreement PDF with Academic Advisor; obtain required signatures.

Personal Info

  • Official Transcript*
    (it takes ~20 business days to be distributed by the University)
    *unofficial transcripts accepted for summer exchange programs
  • Copy of Passport Page
  • 2 Passport-Sized Photos (2 inch x 2 inch)


  • Two Faculty Recommendation Forms PDF *
    • One letter/form needs to be from CPP faculty, preferably from your major
      *only one letter of recommendation needed for summer exchange programs
    • Letters can be submitted directly to our office via e-mail (, mail, campus mail, or in person. Letters can be submitted by faculty or student, sealed or unsealed.
  • Statement of Purpose PDF

Step 3

After pre-screening of CPP application & documents, the International Center will provide you with the application (hardcopy or online portal) to the host university. Hardcopies are to be submitted directly to the International Center, not the host university.

Step 4

Wait for acceptance from host university.

Step 5

Purchase mandatory CPP student travel insurance. Rates vary by country and duration. The International Center will provide you with a quote and payment instructions.

Step 6

Apply for Visa*

*If applicable. Visa requirements vary by country and length of study.

Attend Pre-Departure Orientation
(to be scheduled by the International Center)

At the completion of your exchange program

  • Contact your Exchange Coordinator at the International Center
  • Complete the Study Abroad Survey
  • Report any change of classes while abroad
  • Confirm accuracy of your academic advising form
  • You will receive a copy of your transcripts approximately 6-8 weeks after the termination of the the school term
  • The International Center will send your transcript and academic advising agreement to the Admissions & Outreach office to input your units and grades from abroad
  • Go online and view your unofficial transcript to see that your grades have been posted (approximately 10-12 weeks). If your grades have not been posted, notify the International Center staff immediately.
  • Apply to be a Study Abroad Ambassador! You'll have the opportunity to become an ambassador and share with other students about your study abroad experience
  • Include your study abroad experience on your resume!
