University Library

Lending Policy — Courtesy Borrowers

The library will grant borrowing privileges to persons, referred to as "Courtesy" borrowers, having special ties with the University, as individuals, or as members of an affiliated group. They are: members in good standing of the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association, Cal Poly Associates, Chancellor's Associates, other CSU Alumni Associates, University Corporate Associates, Parent Family Association and the Spouses and Domestic partners of Cal Poly Pomona faculty and staff. A courtesy borrower must be 18 years of age or older.

Each applicant must register by providing proof of identity (valid California driver license, or California ID, showing current mailing address) and proof of eligibility or of affiliation to an eligible group.

The Cal Poly Pomona Library issued card along with a drivers license, California ID or an official photo ID are required when completing any type of library transaction. (e.g.; CHECKOUT, RENEWAL, or PAY FEES).

A total of 10 books may be borrowed for 30 days. Book(s) can be renewed online through My Library Account, NOT BY PHONE. One or more book(s) overdue, will keep you in delinquent status and no further transactions will be allowed until overdue status is cleared. Courtesy borrowers DO NOT have Special Materials or Items privileges, including Reserve books, Periodicals, Reference, Document Delivery or CSU+, media checkout, remote database, e-book, or e-journal access. For more detailed information, see the circulation staff.

The replacement fee is refundable if the book is returned in good condition and within one-year of payment date.

Overdue fees will be charged: $.15 cents per book per day per book (maximum $10.00). Fees for lost or unreturned overdue books will be charged per CSU fee schedule; i.e., replacement fee of book and accrued overdue fee(s).

Failure to return overdue books and/or pay overdue fees will result in temporary loss of borrowing privileges. Repeated or serious infringements may result in permanent loss of borrowing privileges.

In an attempt to limit unauthorized use of library materials, library personnel will record the name and identification number of anyone attempting to leave the library without properly checking out materials. Public guests who are repeat offenders will be forwarded to the Cal Poly Pomona Police Department.

When eligibility ends or membership to the affiliated group expires.
