Voices from Our Past
Hugh O. La Bounty (President - Cal Poly Pomona 1978-1990)
Hugh O. La Bounty first made contact with Cal Poly students while he was a teacher at nearby Citrus College. In this interview, he reviews his early teaching days, when he frequently found himself to be younger than his students. Over the years he climbed the administrative ladder, first at the Voorhis campus and later at the Kellogg campus, until in 1978, when he became the university's third president.
Interviewed by student Sharon Sforzini Grant on April 11, 1966.
