Important Information for Incoming Freshmen International Students

Thank you for choosing Cal Poly Pomona!  We are excited to welcome you to the Bronco family! Students admitted for the Fall 2019 semester are required to complete a mandatory orientation in order to register for Fall 2019 classesStudents who do not meet their Orientation requirement will have a registration hold placed on their account. Please see below for instructions regarding your mandatory Orientation requirement:

Freshmen International Orientation Requirement

If you attended high school in the United States,

you must complete all the requirements below (you have two options to choose from):

OPTION 1:

  1. Register and attend a mandatory regular freshmen Orientation from June 17 - July 23. For the step-by-step instructions on how to register for Orientation, please refer to this link.

  2. Register and attend the mandatory “International Check-In” workshop on Thursday, August 15 from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm. During this time, you will have an opportunity to meet other new students, understand the responsibilities and benefits of your visa status, learn about campus support, and meet the International Center staff!

  3. Submit important documents required by the International Center

  1. Contact Orientation Services by email orientation@cpp.edu or call (909) 869-3604 to register for the mandatory International Freshmen Orientation on August 15 - August 16.

Freshmen International Orientation Requirement

If you attended high school in your home country,

you must complete all the requirements below:
  1. Contact Orientation Services by email orientation@cpp.edu or call (909) 869-3604 to register for the mandatory International Freshmen Orientation on August 15 - August 16.

Housing Accommodations:

International Students will have an opportunity to move into their permanent 2019-2020 housing assignments prior to the start of their Orientation.

Students who do not have confirmed housing will be required to arrange their own housing. Follow this link for assistance in finding housing prior to or during the academic year. What should I do before I attend Orientation?

Before Orientation, students should complete the following steps:

  • Visit the Admissions page for International Freshmen and follow the instructions in the “After Your Decision” section.
  • Pay your Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) via BroncoDirect by May 1. You cannot register for Orientation until you pay your ECD.
  • Register for Orientation via BroncoDirect by June 3.
  • Submit important documents required by the International Center
  • Submit test scores (TOEFL or IELTS, EPT/ELM, etc…)
  • If you are required to live on campus, submit your housing application.
  • Pay your Orientation Fee via BroncoDirect.
  • Submit your immunization records to Student Health Services by July 15.
  • Submit your final official transcripts.
  • Complete the Alcohol e-CheckUpToGo online assessment here before your Orientation date.
  • Check your Cal Poly Pomona email regularly for updates.
  • Get directions to the university and review the dynamic campus map or the campus shuttle map. Use our Getting Here website to find out information about local airports and public transportation.
  • Print out your parking permit. The parking permit will be sent from the Orientation Services office via email 1-week before your Orientation date.

What should I bring to Orientation?

We will take care of your meals. To make your stay more comfortable, we recommend you bring the following:

  • Passport
  • F-1 Visa
  • Cal Poly Pomona I-20
  • Bronco ID number and password.
  • Unofficial transcripts from high school.
  • A government-issued photo ID card (such as a driver’s license or passport).
  • Test scores (EPT/ELM, SAT, SAT II, AP, Aleks PPL, etc…) if applicable.
  • Comfortable shoes and casual clothing.
  • Sunscreen
  • Any medication you may need
  • Extra spending money (for bookstore items, snacks, etc…)

Is there anything I need to do after Orientation?

There are a few things you will need to do before school starts:

  • Pay your fees
  • Attend CPP Fest

    • The university offers a kickoff event, after orientation programs and before classes begin, called CPP Fest. Participating in CPP Fest is part of your new student experience.
