(Pre-requisite Course: PLS 3175, Fall 2021. Trip contingent on COVID
travel guidelines.)

NGO Fieldwork in Hawaii
Students will spend 12 days on the island of Oahu during the January 2022 Winter Intersession to do internships in a variety of dynamic nonprofit organizations (NGOs). Participating students will enroll in PLS 3175: "NGOs and Social Service Outreach" in the Fall Semester 2021. Students will create their own nonprofit organization in this course. Students will also learn how to write grant proposals. This course will examine the missions of a wide array of NGOs in the U.S. and abroad. You will be paired virtually with your selected Hawaii NGO during the latter part of this course. At the end of this course, students will travel to Hawaii to work with your selected NGO. Students will receive 3-units of credit during the Spring Semester for this trip (CLS 4990). This trip is contingent on the COVID travel guidelines at that time. All students for this trip must be vaccinated and must be in possession of a vaccination card in order to participate. See a sample of the program's internship organizations.
