Group Advising

Fall 2019 Information

Advising a growing number of students effectively and efficiently is crucial to student success. Group Advising is an opportunity for advisors and students to collaborate together to achieve academic success. It promotes student involvement in understanding degree requirements for a majority of students, thus allowing advisors to have more time to focus on complex individual student issues through one-on-one advising. The College of Science Advising Center adopted group advising in Winter 2017 with our Kinesiology & Health Promotion and Computer Science majors. The Advisors have presented their group advising model at the National Academic Advising Associate Regional Conference and presented a poster at CPP’s 2018 Stories of Successful Learning. In recent terms, other departments have adopted group advising sessions as well. For more information about your department specific group advising information and new group advising initiatives, please see below for Fall 2019 information.
