Lauren Carey

We welcome Lauren Carey back to southern California, where she recently started a new job modeling groundwater flow systems for Geoscience Support Services, Inc. Geoscience is a groundwater exploration and development company based in San Dimas, CA. We are pleased to learn that she continues to expand her successful career in hydrogeology. Lauren graduated with special honors in 2009, earning a double major in Geology and Integrated Earth Studies, she received the prestigious Julian McVie Award. This award recognizes the student with the highest overall GPA in the College of Science. She then attended graduate school at  University of Idaho under a full teachinmg and research fellowship, earning her Master's degree in Hydrology in 2011. Lauren joins a long list of Cal Poly Pomona alumni who work for Geoscience.

Among other accomplishments, Lauren completed her senior thesis in Icehouse Canyon, located in our local San Gabriel Mountains. Her thesis entitled. "Analysis of Base-flow Recession in Icehouse Canyon, San Gabriel Mountains, California the Geology Department can be viewed if you  CLICK HERE. Her Masters thesis project at the University of Idaho involved sampling and isotopic dating of groundwater from a confined aquifer system in the Columbia River plateau.

The photograph above shows Lauren gauging stream flow in Icehouse Creek. Brrrr... this looks like a cold day in the field!
