Why are you nominating this person? Why do you think he/she deserves the award?
ose is a hard-working, dedicated individual.He starts his day bright and early each morning,
by multi-tasking two buildings (the BSC and the BRIC), supervising staff, assisting with radio calls,
cleaning, training new staff, and/or conducting interviews, attending committees, adjusting his schedule
to work special events, or weekends (if needed).He is a graduate from Cal Poly and started as a Student
Assistant in our Student Government office. He moved to a full-time position in the Custodial department.
He is a great team player, funny, smart, and a great person to work with. He is a member of the Green Team
committee for the campus, attends campus emergency preparedness meetings, He is CERT & CPR certified, a
temporary lead for the ASI Safety Committee meetings, assists as a floor captain for emergencies in the BSC.
Jose comes with a tremendous amount of expertise when it comes to safety. ìNoî is never in his vocabulary when
it comes to the safety of students, staff, and the community.

In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?
When you walk into the Bronco Student Center, it is spotless. This is due to the countless hours of training and
dedication he provides to the Custodial staff. He is constantly looking to improve his skills and attending
conferences to see the latest products and services in the Custodial field.

When his supervisor is out of the office, Jose goes above and beyond his normal duties, by making sure all areas of the
BSC and BRIC are always covered, cleaned, and inspected.He exemplifies customer service by assisting with incoming radio
calls, assisting with staff needs, assigning tasks to the Custodial Assistants, assisting customers who are not familiar
with the campus, providing quarterly training to the Custodial Student Assistants, making sure the Custodial staff wear
the appropriate safety gear while out in the field, sits on multiple committees: such as the Green Team, CERT, ASI Safety
Committees, checks on stock and supplies needed for both buildings, attends and volunteers for campus emergency preparedness
meetings, and trainings. There is never a slow day for Jose.

He is dependable, reliable, and cares about the appearance and cleanliness of both the BSC and the BRIC. He stands firm to
ASIís mission statement of ìhigh quality facilities, programs, and services to students, administrators, faculty, staff,
alumni and the off-campus community.î He is an excellent colleague and friend.
