I am nominating:Mayra Cervantes
Years of Service at Cal Poly: 3
Department: Parking & Transportation
Position: Citation Processing Coordinator
Why are you nominating this person? Why do you think he/she deserves the award?
Mayra Cervantes was a student CSO at PTS. When she graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a
degree in mathematics she applied for and became a parking officer. Mayra did a great job
as an officer but knew she wanted to move on to something different. She applied for a position
as the parking citation processor. The department had just transitioned to a new database and
all the processes had changed. Mayra worked diligently through each of the issues and resolved
them one by one. Once she got processes documented and on a regular schedule, she looked for more work.
She began to help with various reconciliation processes in parking. Most recently she took on the
role of training the CSOs. Mayra is always willing to learn something new and to take on additional
responsibilities while continuing to ensure her core work is done, done well and in a timely manner.
In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?
As an alumna, Mayra continues to serve the Cal Poly Pomona campus community by doing her work well and
with integrity. By taking on training responsibilities for CSOs she is helping our students to graduate
with good life skills and competencies for future work. Mayra assists with information fairs, commencement,
and other activities that help the campus to run smoothly
