Position: Head Coach, Men's Soccer
Why are you nominating this person? Why do you think he/she deserves the award?
Yossi has provided outstanding leadership and direction to the Menís Soccer program,
academically, athletically and in service. In 2012 the team record was 3-11-3.
He arrived before the 2013 season and the team improved to 7-7-4. In 2014 the team
finished with a 17-1-2 record, the best in program history and in the Spring 2015
quarter Menís Soccer led the department in grade point average with a team cumulative of
3.17 and had 10 student-athletes on the Deaní List (3.50 or better). This was a department first.
In Fall 2015, the Menís Soccer team again had their best season in University history going 17-3-3
and advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championship. During this historic run,
the team had a 2.87 GPA and 6 were on the Deanís List.

In what way(s) does this person enhance or contribute to the Cal Poly Pomona campus community?
Menís Soccer has participated the past two years in the ìWalk a Mile in Her Shoesî , an event to support women.
The team and coaches have been highly supportive of this event. They have brought outstanding and
positive recognition to Cal Poly Pomona. Coach Raz has also participated in department functions and
served on search and screen committees within the department. Coach Raz has also recruited several
international student-athletes which has led to the richness of diversity of the student-body.

The time spent training, traveling and mentoring student-athletes is often not seen until game day.
His total program management and involvement in the lives of our student-athletes (both men and women)
is evident in the academic and athletic successes.

to a quality experience for the Menís Soccer program.
