High School Scene Festival

Save the Date!

Cal Poly Pomona Department of Theatre and New Dance's annual High School Scene Festival returns in full force on Friday, February 2, 2024!

The all-day event includes theatre workshops, the Tech Olympics, and a Scene Competition for high school students. Registration for this event will cost each school a flat rate of $150.

For the Scene Competition, schools are asked to consider bringing up to three scenes – from past or upcoming productions – with each scene lasting no more than 10 minutes in length. These scenes will be viewed and judged by three of our faculty members. Finalists in the competition will perform once more during the last round of judging.

Students can also compete in our Tech Olympics, which will feature Olympics-style events such as flat-lashing, a light focus frenzy and costume quick-change.

The workshops we will offer include topics such as Acting for Auditions, Stage Combat, Improv, Costume/Makeup, Prop Design, Writing for the Screen and Stage, as well as Dance Theatre. Workshops change every year - 2024 workshops will be announced this Fall.
