Consistent with California Department of Public Health recommendations, we are promoting social distancing by canceling all events and gatherings on or off campus through April 30No public gatherings of any size affiliated with the university are permitted either on or off campus. This includes all clubs and organizations.

We will continue to update this as recommendations evolve. Please continue to rely on online and other digital communication strategies to hold all meetings.

This decision covers all events and gatherings, including, but not limited to:

  • Banquets, luncheons, receptions, dinner galas
  • Conferences, workshops and meetings
  • Guided campus tours, public performances

Congratulations to the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021. We are so proud of you in reaching this important milestone.

Thank you to all who responded to surveys in spring 2020 and in February 2021. Your feedback has been valuable in guiding us in this process.

We are working hard to plan a ceremony where you can celebrate with your family and friends, and hopefully cross the stage, depending on county health guidelines in May. At this time, traditional in-person commencement ceremonies are not permitted in Los Angeles County. However, if positive cases and community spread continue to decrease, we are working on plans that will allow graduates to cross the stage.

The information below highlights our current plans and guidelines. Please note that all our planning efforts are guided by our commitment to the health and well-being of our community, as well as the public health guidelines and protocols.

Drive-In Commencement Event
Fairplex in Pomona
Thursday, May 20 through to Sunday, May 23
Virtual Ceremonies

Event organizers and planners should take action to cancel their individual events, including communicating with speakers and guests, canceling room reservations and/or catering, and canceling any other related event arrangements.
