Residence Life at University Housing Services

The Residence Life Team is comprised of our Director, Senior Coordinators, Coordinators, Area Coordinators, Residence Life Interns, and Student Leaders. The role of the Student Leader is a pivotal role with Res Life as each position focuses on fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all residents.

We follow University Housing Services Mission Statement which is as follows: In collaboration with our residents and staff, we seek to provide a learning-centered environment that enhances a safe and welcoming community, opportunities for growth, leadership, and student success, and appreciation and empowerment for all backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures

The primary responsibility of the Resident Advisor for the academic year is to provide safety and security while building community in each of the residential halls and suites. Community building is accomplished through programs, socials, and enforcing community standards established by University Housing Services and by the residents of a building.

The primary responsibility of an Event Lead is to provide high-quality social and educational events for on-campus residents. All events are designed to provide a well-rounded co-curricular experience that promotes a sense of belonging at CPP. Past events have included Paint & Pass, Gender Bread, and Game Nights.

Position Requirements for Resident Advisor and Event Lead
  • Have (at the time of application) and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 
  • Must be in good judicial standing with UHS and CPP 
  • Must have completed at least one semester at CPP by the end of Fall 2023
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at CPP for the 2024-2025 Academic year

Appointment Term
The Resident Advisor appointment term is from August 2024 through May 2025.

Resident Advisor Remuneration
Resident Advisor remuneration is as follows for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

  • Room in a designated Single and Board plan
  • 2024-2025 Academic Year Meal Plan
  • An incidental credit will be applied

Appointment Term
The Event Lead appointment term is from August 2024 through May 2025.

Event Lead Remuneration
Event Lead remuneration is as follows for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

  • During the academic year, the room provided at no cost will be a double-occupancy Traditional Hall room (i.e. a room in either Encinitas, Montecito, Alamitos, or Aliso)
    • If the student decides to live in another room type, i.e. Suites Double or Suites Single, student will need to pay the difference

        • Please note the above pricing for a Double-Occupancy Traditional Hall Room is for the 2023-2024 academic year and is subject to change for the 2024-2025 academic year

Can I apply to both the Resident Advisor and Event Lead positions?
Yes, you are more than welcome to apply to both positions.


When will I be notified about my application status after I've been interviewed?
Final notification of application status will be provided to all applicants on Monday, April 1, 2024.

What does it mean to be in good judicial standing?
To be
considered in good judicial standing you cannot be on UHS disciplinary probation or Campus disciplinary probation.


What does UHS look for in a Student Leader candidate?
Student Leaders with UHS have diverse experiences, perspectives, and beliefs and thus it is hard to identify specific traits of a successful candidate. However, UHS traditionally seeks applicants with the following skills 

  • On campus involvement (IE: clubs, event attendance, undergrad research, etc.) 
  • An understanding of how to interact with and support individuals of multiple identities 
  • Ability to effectively manage the time commitments of being a student and a student leader 
  • A drive and commitment to support fellow students and create a positive experience 
  • Ability to think critically and address concerns, violations of policy, and respond to emergencies
