Kevin Grundy is Chief Operating Officer of Sarcos Corporation and is responsible for transitioning the company from a government contract-driven entity into a commercial robotics provider specializing in exoskeletal robots.
Prior to this, Grundy has an extensive career in electrical engineering. In 1986, Steve Jobs hired Grundy (as employee No. 34) as an engineer at NeXT Computer. Part of the founding design team for the computer used to invent the World Wide Web, Grundy supervised the hardware design and production of several generations of personal computers during his tenure at the company.
Since then, Grundy has been a part of a multitude of startups developing pioneering new technologies. This includes deploying the nation’s first self-installed smart DSL network and developing several wireless broadband and signal transmission solutions. Much of the technology that Grundy led in the development of have been acquired for as much as $1 billion from companies like Intel and Motorola.
Kevin Grundy holds a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona. Grundy also serves as a member of the Dean’s Leadership Board, scoping out opportunities to support the College of Engineering.
The Cal Poly Pomona College of Engineering established the Ganpat and Manju Patel Distinguished Lecture Series to broaden the educational experience of Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty and staff by hosting innovative and engaging scientists and engineers who encourage thought provoking discourse and ideas. We recruit "thought leaders" locally and from across the globe to provide opportunities for our community to learn from a diversity of ideas and innovations.
With increasing competition from around the world, America’s engineering graduates need to be more prepared than ever to enter the work force, and Cal Poly Pomona is well-poised to ensure that they are.
