President Ortiz's Video Message for Oct. 18

President Michael Ortiz gives his video message on Oct. 18.
In his weekly video message, President Ortiz emphasizes the importance of the WASC team visit this week. The accreditation visit is designed to evaluate the university's mission and objectives, and system of assessment to ensure students receive a quality education. Participation from everyone on campus will have a significant impact on the review.

Ortiz invites the campus community to an afternoon reception on Oct. 19 at Kellogg House Pomona, a noon open forum on Oct. 21 in the University Library, and an exit meeting on Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m. in Building 6.

More information about the WASC visit is available at www.cpp.edu/~wasc/.

This week, the university will participate in a statewide earthquake drill on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 10:21 a.m.

"The key is to drop, cover and hold on," Ortiz says. "The big one will hit. We all need to be prepared for that day."

The university will also test its Safety Alert System, which sends out messages to the campus community during an emergency. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to update their emergency contact information at BroncoDirect. More information about the Safety Alert test is available at www.cpp.edu/~publicaffairs/emergency/alert.shtml.

The president's video message also recaps Matt's Run, Pumpkin Festival and the Pizza with the Presidents event.
