President's Video Message for Nov. 8

President Michael Ortiz gives his video message on Nov. 8.
In his weekly video address, President Ortiz highlights some high-profile agenda items for the CSU Board of Trustees this week.

The board is considering a mid-year tuition increase of 5 percent and a 10 percent tuition increase for 2011-12. In the video, Ortiz goes into detail about the state budget and its affect on tuition. If the tuition increases are approved, the financially neediest students will won't be affected, Ortiz says.

"About half of our students will not be affected by the tuition increase thanks to financial aid, grants and federal tax credits. While the CSU continues to be one of the lowest cost public university systems in the country, it will still have an impact on our students and their families."

President Ortiz also talks about a special event at the historic Kellogg stables Friday night that celebrated the public launch of the campaign. He acknowledges and thanks staff, students and faculty who contributed to the event's success.
