Professor Terri Gomez didn't let the fact that she was a first-generation college student and the daughter of Mexican laborers stop her from championing social justice.

When she's not mentoring students in the classroom, the ethnic and women's studies professor teaches a women's empowerment course at the Chino Institution for Women.
