The wait is over for Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty and staff looking for a place to grab a cold one on campus.
The café inside Innovation Brew Works, located in Innovation Village, began serving craft beers from local breweries Monday. Guest craft brews come from Dale Bros. Brewery of Upland, Claremont Craft Ales and Ritual Brewing Co. of Redlands
Plans for the campus to brew its own beer are still in the works.
The brewing operations of Innovation Brew Works at the Center for Training, Technology and Incubation (CTTI) have been delayed due to permit issues. Although the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation has attained its Alcohol Beverage Control license, State fire marshal approvals are still pending. Engineers are aware of what the project needs to meet code and are working on the fixes.
The brewery can began serving Cal Poly Pomona-brewed beer 30 days after the fire marshal signs off on the project. Beer takes two to three weeks to properly ferment and condition.
Innovation Brew Works will serve as a learn-by-doing brewing laboratory for students, as well as a café for the community. The café, which opened Sept. 15, serves gourmet salads, sandwiches and signature pizzas.
