Global Education Institute Expands Ties to China

Ten international students from China who are attending Aviation Hospitality Program (AHP) at CPP provided service to our guests during the banquet.

In June, the Cal Poly Pomona Global Education Institute hosted a high ranking delegation of approximately 60 Chinese university administrators representing 49 prestigious higher education institutions.

The group was in Los Angeles to attend the 2017 NAFSA Annual Conference. Cal Poly Pomona was the only campus they visited.

On campus, the delegation met with President Soraya M. Coley, who emphasized the importance of establishing institutional partnerships with international counterparts and expressed her strong interest in working with the Chinese universities.

The delegation also toured the university and met with campus leadership, deans and faculty to learn more about the unique strengths and programs at Cal Poly Pomona and to discuss possible partnership ideas.

During the banquet, 10 Chinese students in the university's Aviation Hospitality Program (AHP) provided services to the guests while practicing their English and hospitality skills.

"The visit of this delegation is an indication of Cal Poly Pomona's increasing visibility overseas," said Howard Evans, dean of the College of the Extended University and International Center. "It also contributes significantly to further increasing the university's visibility and enhancing our reputation in the international community."
