President Soraya M. Coley was one of five honorees at the inaugural Black History Month Reception hosted by Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis.

The reception was held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pomona on Feb. 14. Solis is a Cal Poly Pomona alumna who earned her political science degree in 1979.

The four other awardees included: Brian K. Williams, executive director of the Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission; Pastor Ivory Brown, executive director of Project: Caring & Sharing; the NAACP Pomona Valley; and NAACP San Gabriel Valley.
