Cal Poly Pomona is excited to announce the launch of Class Pass, a new student program to enhance transportation access to campus and increase mobility options for all students. Class Pass is a partnership with Foothill Transit for a two-year pilot program.

Through Class Pass, all enrolled students can receive a free Transit Access Pass (TAP) card that gives unlimited rides on Foothill Transit Local and Silver Streak buses. Students can ride the bus for free from Cal Poly Pomona to downtown Los Angeles, or Pasadena to West Covina, or Pomona to Brea.

From east to west, Foothill Transit's bus network covers over 300 square miles, connecting 22 different cities throughout the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys, plus downtown Los Angeles, providing approximately 12 million rides each year. Currently, seven Foothill Transit Lines serve campus, with stops along South Campus Drive and Temple Avenue.

"This initiative will help make transit access more affordable and convenient for our students, and helps support basic needs," said Danny Wu, executive director for Transportation & Planning and co-chair of the campus Alternative Transportation Committee. "It also helps promote a more sustainable transportation option for getting around campus, which helps the environment."

All currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at Cal Poly Pomona are eligible to get a Class Pass. Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Online Learning and Certificate enrolled students are not currently eligible.

Class Pass TAP cards are being distributed now in the Bronco Student Center, Games Room, Etc. (Bldg. 35-1110) by an appointment system to help manage traffic flow and to meet COVID-19 safety protocols. Students must bring their Bronco ID or another valid form of ID. Only one TAP card per enrolled student will be issued.

Foothill Transit is following all federal, state and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines for COVID-19. Face coverings must cover your mouth and nose any time you are in the bus, regardless of vaccination status.

Throughout this two-year Class Pass Pilot period, the university, in collaboration with Foothill Transit, Associated Students, Inc., and the campus Alternative Transportation Committee, will evaluate the program benefits and ridership, to decide how best to continue the program.
