CPP Celebrates Womxn's Herstory Month with Campus Events

Cal Poly Pomona will host numerous events throughout Womxn’s Herstory Month in March to raise awareness and support women’s contributions and issues.

In recognition of the multiplicity of gender expressions that exist and to be inclusive of the womxn-identifying population, the term “womxn” is used to mark this month. The term “herstory” reflects the importance of viewing the past from a feminist perspective with special attention to the experience of women.

We invite the entire CPP community to participate in these uplifting and empowering events throughout the month:

Womxn’s Resource Center Clothing Pop-Up
March 5, 12 p.m.-1 p.m., Womxn’s Resource Center
Need professional attire? Gender-affirming attire? Children’s clothes? The Womxn’s Resource Center (WRC) will host a clothing pop-up event in a collaboration with the Care Center, Pride Center, Bronco Parenting Student Club, and Sustainable Futures Club.

International Women’s Day Lawn Game Tournament
March 8, 1 p.m.-3 p.m., Bronco Commons
Celebrate International Women’s Day in the Bronco Commons with classic lawn games.

Women’s Climb Night
March 8, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex
Join ASI and our woman-identifying community as they take on the Brono Peak climbing wall at the BRIC! All climbing skills welcome.

Bronco Con
March 8, 5 p.m.-9 p.m., Bronco Student Center Second Floor
Attend a panel with a woman leader guest speaker at Bronco Con, an on-campus convention dedicated to gathering Broncos with similar interests and hobbies. You’ll gain insight through their journey working in the industry and hear about upcoming projects they are working on.

Self-Care and Balance
March 12, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Womxn’s Resource Center
Join the third session of the WRC’s Womxn’s Group, in which they will discuss self-care and balance with a counselor from CPP’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The event includes essential oil bracelets crafting.

WRC Womxn’s Leadership Conference
March 16, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Ursa Major
The WRC will host a half-day workshop focused on holistic development. The conference will include guest speakers, a panel, workshops activities and more.

Paint and Sip
March 20, 12 p.m.-1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., Ursa Major A
Enjoy painting, light refreshments, and a healthy discussion about relationships curated by the WRC, CAPS, and Black Resource Center.

Yoga Wellness Session
March 21, 12 p.m.-2 p.m., BRIC
De-stress with yoga, meditation and a journaling session at the BRIC. Learn techniques for relaxation through breathing and stretching.

Now through March 21, W. Keith & Janet Kellogg University Art Gallery
Experience an award-winning, exhibit featuring all-woman artists about our connection with the sea. This on-campus gallery adjacent to University Park is open to the public.

Self-Care Bear: Healing Your Inner Child
March 26, 12 p.m.-2 p.m., BSC Ursa Minor
Connect and comfort your inner child as you build a bear. Participants will learn the needs of their inner child and how to heal them through herbal plants and their healing properties.

Herstory Luncheon: Influential Womxn at the Table
March 28, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Centerpointe
Indulge in a delicious luncheon featuring a women’s ensemble and showcases of different women leaders in justice, music, and food, provided by the WRC, Centerpointe, and the University Library.
