More than 300 undergraduate scholars presented their research at the annual RSCA (Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities) Conference hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research.

This event served as a vibrant platform for students to present their original research, scholarly contributions, and creative endeavors.

The March 2 conference not only displayed the hard work and dedication of students but also offered participants an opportunity to broaden their academic and professional experiences. Selected participants were granted the opportunity to present their research at the CSU Systemwide Student Research Competition.

Jennette Ramirez, the STARS program director, captured the essence of the conference's goals.

“The primary objectives for students presenting at the RSCA (Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities) Conference are multifaceted, aiming not only to showcase their hard-earned research and projects but also to foster a deeper engagement with the academic community,” Ramirez said. “At the heart of this experience is the opportunity for students to enhance communication stills, cultivate networking opportunities, encourage scholarly achievement, and to encourage further research and innovation.”

Sergio Brown, an electromechanical engineering student, shared his research on the Billy Bot Robot, specifically information on the development and performance of the autonomous navigation robot equipped with advanced hardware integration.

“Working with faculty mentor, Dr. Farbod Khoshnoud allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills within my field of study. This opportunity has impacted my personal academic growth by providing me with a first experience conducting research and presenting at a conference.”
