Celebrate spring with a burst of color and spice. Cal Poly Pomona’s annual Pepperzania sale, featuring more than 130 varieties of pepper plants, begins April 27 at the Cal Poly Pomona Farm Store.

Pepper plants include multiple varieties of Serrano, Jalapeno, Hatch, Poblano/Mole, Bell, Sweet, Specialty, Peruvian and Asian Peppers. The sale will include classics like Orange Sun Bells, El Jefe Jalapenos and Shishito, as well as some uncommon varieties like Aji Chaparita (Peru), Tepin, Wiri Wiri (Guayana), and Purple Serrano Peppers. Asian peppers include Basket of Fire, Cayenne Golden, Chinese Five Color, Dragon Roll, Thai Hot and Shishito.

All plants are grown by Cal Poly Pomona students majoring in plant sciences. Proceeds benefit the plant sciences program and the students.

Opening weekend, April 27-28, will feature a 10% discount on pepper plants priced at $5.49 and $6.49.

In addition to the peppers, the nursery also will have a grand array of spring plants to jump start the home garden, including tomatoes, herbs, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, beans, lettuce, strawberries, dragon fruit and more.
