Become By Giving: Broncos Give Kicks Off

Student with Billy Bronco holds a sign that says I Become by Helping

Mark your calendars as Broncos rev up for one of the most anticipated university-wide fundraising events of the year.

This year’s Broncos Give (formerly Giving Day) begins April 16 at 9 a.m. and ends the following night, April 17, at 9 p.m. The 36-hour online giving window is a chance for Broncos to come together and support their favorite organizations, clubs, initiatives, sports and scholarships.

With incentives like gift-matching and challenge opportunities, contributions made during this time are especially impactful for some of the campus’ most urgent and beloved causes — such as the Community Innovation Hub, W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, Reading, Advising, & Mentoring Program, University Library, Rose Float, student scholarships, travel funds for students to attend competitions and conferences, and more.

Brooke Fessler Owens, director of leadership for annual giving, describes the event as “the most significant 36 hours of the year for giving — a tradition that has fueled student success for more than a decade. Its legacy is built on the generosity of Broncos who believe in our students’ futures and the dedication of our Broncos Give captains, who work tirelessly to highlight the incredible programs on campus.”

Those interested in playing a larger role this time are encouraged to become Broncos Give champions, where they will work closely with their cause’s Broncos Give captain to drive awareness and inspire others to give. Through the You + 2 Challenge, champions can earn exclusive sticker sets, insulated water bottles and even bonus funds for their cause by donating and encouraging at least two others to give through their referral link.

This year’s Broncos Give celebrates with an in-person Broncos Give Coin Challenge outside of the BSC on Thursday, April 17, from noon to 1 p.m. where faculty, students and staff can vote for their favorite causes with gold coins.
