New Director Appointed to Kellogg Arabian Horse Center

Anthony Stone

Anthony Stone has been appointed executive director of the Cal Poly Pomona’s prestigious W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, following a national search. He assumed the role Nov. 17. His responsibilities include strategic planning, operational management, animal care, expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students through academic partnerships, community engagement and donor relationships.

The W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center, established in 1925, has a 100-year tradition of breeding and promoting the Arabian horse, known for its grace, beauty, and intelligence. In 2024, the university was named Performance Breeder of the Year by readers of the Arabian Horse Times. Today the center supports a range of academic and co-curricular programs for students, as well as vibrant community outreach programs.

Stone brings more than 15 years of higher education leadership to the position with a strong record of building academic programs, advancing student success and developing institutional and community partnerships.

Most recently, he served as director of admissions and business development at OC Veterinary Assistant School, where he was a founding team member and responsible for strategic growth, program design, and operational oversight. Prior to that role, he served as executive director at Heritage College, leading campus operations and managing strategic initiatives in enrollment, retention and compliance.

Stone served as a member of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA) board of directors, 2023-2025, providing leadership and advocacy for veterinary team members across the region. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Regis University and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado.

Cal Poly Pomona’s W.K. Arabian Horse Center is an important hands-on learning resource for students in all majors, from the equine studies minor to the Horses for Heroes program for veterans, and the Horsemanship Club. The center is open to the public during the week, and Sunday Horse Shows, continuing a tradition begun by W.K. Kellogg. The next Sunday Horse Show is Feb. 1. Shows are generally held the first Sunday of the month, weather permitting, October – May.
