Bronco Launchpad Fuels Basketball, Bats and Learning Beyond the Classroom
What does a national basketball championship run, an opportunity to study in Singapore and a project that involves monitoring birds and bats in SoCal have in common? They are just a few of the incredible experiences made possible with support from Bronco Launchpad.
During the annual fall crowdfunding event, Broncos come together to support projects, programs and opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
With this year’s Bronco Launchpad right around the corner, let’s look at three amazing things from last year’s event.
- Women’s Basketball Made a Run to the Elite Eight
Broncos took to the court in a national tournament! Cal Poly Pomona’s women’s basketball team advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, competing against some of the best teams in the country.
Donor support provided essential resources for travel to Pittsburgh, training, and equipment, which kept the student-athletes thriving on and off the court throughout the extended playoff journey. Beyond the wins, these Broncos gained unforgettable experiences representing CPP on one of the biggest stages in collegiate basketball.
- Honors Students Took Their Learning Around the World
From Pomona to Singapore and Italy, Kellogg Honors College students expanded their horizons.
Last year, thanks in part to donor generosity, the college provided 42 scholarships and awards to support students to travel abroad. They also participated in regional and national conferences, connecting classroom learning with new cultures, perspectives and professional experiences.
For these Broncos, the world became their classroom!
- Womxn in the Wild Helped Students Discover New Career Paths
Sometimes, discovering your future means stepping outside your comfort zone.
Through Womxn in the Wild, students explored career possibilities through immersive, hands-on summer field experiences that introduced them to new environments and professional connections. They surveyed wildlife, including birds and bats, in various Southern California locations.
Donor contributions provided student stipends that reduced financial barriers to participation. With the opportunity to explore new interests and career paths, students gained experiences that can shape what comes next.
These three stories are just a glimpse of what’s possible when the CPP community comes together. Bronco Launchpad will take place Nov. 1 through Dec. 1. To support big ideas getting turned into real-world experiences, visit the Bronco Launchpad website.
