CPP and SLO Rose Float teams host local youth for RoseSTEM

Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Rose Float student leaders mentored more than 100 middle and high school students during RoseSTEM, hosted June 24-25 at the CPP Rose Float Lab. Held in collaboration with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, the program featured hands-on learning in mechanical design, animation and structural engineering, intended to ignite students’ interest in STEM careers.

Cal Poly Pomona Rose Float director Cary Khatab says college students could connect well with younger participants. Many of the Cal Poly students are only a few years removed from high school themselves: "I see the genuine excitement and gratification from my students as they make lasting positive impressions of the students of the future."
