Philosophy Professor Alex Madva, director of the California Center for Ethics & Policy, delivered the closing lecture at “Climate Change, Science Communication and Public Opinion,” a multidisciplinary climate congress in Granada, Spain. Madva’s lecture noted that while systemic changes are vital, relying solely on them can lead to inaction, and that individual efforts are essential catalysts for collective transformation. Drawing from his upcoming book “Someone Should Do Something,” he argued that individuals play a foundational role in designing, demanding and sustaining the policies that drive lasting social change.
