Prof. Victor Cardona shares check fraud prevention tips

Experts say it's impossible for banks to catch every instance of check fraud and that some responsibility must lie with the check writer. Forensic Accounting Adjunct Professor Victor Cardona advises tracking checks through your bank, reporting suspected fraud immediately, and contacting law enforcement or the U.S. Postal Service if a mailed check is stolen. He also recommends freezing your credit to prevent further damage if you become a victim.
