Incoming architecture major Paige Hankins earned first place in the American Institute of Architects San Joaquin chapter's annual student design competition for her proposal to transform a vacant lot in Fresno's Chinatown into a community hub. Hankins says her design sought to unite a historically divided neighborhood, describing it as “a reminder of Chinatown's challenging past, while ushering in a new era of connection and community.”
