Marine science grad student Victoria K. Gronwald named SeaChange Scholar

Victoria K. Gronwald (‘28, master’s in marine sciences) has been named a SeaChange Scholar, receiving $10,000 to support her research examining how California’s proposed floating offshore wind infrastructure could affect commercially and recreationally important bottom-dwelling fish communities. Under the mentorships of Biological Sciences Professor Jeremy Claisse and his CSU Long Beach counterpart Professor Daniel Pondella, Gronwald is establishing baseline data on sablefish, rockfish, thornyheads and flatfishes in proposed Wind Energy Areas to help resource managers balance renewable-energy development with sustainable fisheries management.
