Here and There Play

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda hosted a special screening of an original play “Here and There: How to be Here, When There is Never Far Away” on Nov. 17, 2022, sponsored by Cal Poly Pomona’s Veterans Resource Center and Department of Theatre and New Dance.

Written by Paula Weston Solano and Bernardo Solano, the play is part of a series of five community conversations in the American War Experience Through California Voices project, which is supported by a National Endowment for the Humanities grant awarded to the VRC and California Center for Ethics and Policy in 2018. The series features on- and off-campus events and covers a broad range of experiences from veterans and military dependents, both on the battlefield and at home.

“Here and There” included significant contributions by members of the VRC and provided a glimpse into a day in the life of Cal Poly Pomona’s Iraq and Afghanistan military-affiliated students as they grapple with the legacy of military service both on campus and abroad.

The Veterans Resource Center would like to thank the museum for generously providing the screening room and those who came out to support Cal Poly Pomona’s military-affiliated students.
