VRC Celebrates its 10th Anniversary with Alumni and Partner Reception

Cal Poly Pomona’s Veterans Resource Center celebrated its 10th anniversary on Oct. 5, 2022. Established in 2012, the VRC serves as the central resource for information, support, guidance and community for CPP military-affiliated students. The Center relies on the generosity of donors to help provide support such as computers, free printing and scholarships to these students. To honor the donors, the VRC hosted an alumni and partner reception on Oct. 9, 2022, at University Plaza.

Veterans Resource Center student staff members Jonah Aguirre, Fredy Loria and Clare Corley led the event and the university welcome was given by Dr. Megan Stang, associate vice president of student affairs, while all enjoyed a dinner catered by Kellogg West. Guests then heard from keynote speakers Tahir Davis, CPP alumnus and U.S. Coast Guard; Tony Marraccino, CPP alumnus, donor and Army National Guard; Dr. Sandra Emerson, professor emeritus in political science; and Dr. Phyllis Nelson, professor of electrical engineering and faculty director of data analytics. In addition, attendees participated in a challenge coin ceremony where they were presented with VRC 10th anniversary challenge coins designed by VRC student staff.

The VRC would like to thank those who attended the event and those who continue to generously provide the support that sustains the services that CPP military-affiliated students rely on for academic and personal success.
