BRIC Membership Program

On Tuesday, May 30th, Cal Poly Pomona launched a pilot program to support employee health and wellness, by offering a subsidized membership to the Bronco Recreation and Intramural Center (BRIC). Input from our employees, as well as faculty and staff unions helped to shape this initiative to provide greater access to the BRIC at a significantly reduced cost, allowing you to take advantage of the full range of exercise and recreation equipment and classes at this state-of-the-art facility.

Beginning May 30, 2023, the University will subsidize 50% of the cost of membership to the BRIC for Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Spring 2024. As a pilot program that allows us to assess the level of interest and utilization, this opportunity is limited to 100 faculty and staff for a 1-year period, ending May 17, 2024.

Please note that the subsidized amount for the membership is taxable to employees as a benefit and will be deducted from their paycheck following the reporting of this benefit.

To participate in the program, here is some important information:

  • Fall 2023 Membership registration is now open.
  • For Fall 2023 and Spring 2024, the employee’s cost will be $120.50 prorated based on the date of registration.
  • The subsidized amount for the membership is taxable to the employee as a benefit.
  • For faculty and staff who were members of the BRIC in Spring 2023 and wish to continue their membership under the pilot program beginning in Fall 2023, the University will process a reimbursement for 50% of the Spring 2023 membership based on the amount paid at time of registration.
  • Employees who are not familiar with the BRIC and want to experience all it has to offer before committing to a membership, they may request a complimentary one-week, trial membership (valid for a seven (7) consecutive day period) by visiting the BRIC front desk. Please note that the BRIC is closed May 20 through May 29.
  • The University will announce any changes to this program by April 1, 2024.
  • For operating hours or specific facilities including Bronco Peak and the BRIC Pool, please visit ASI’s website.

STEP 1:

The registration process must be completed in person at the front desk of the BRIC or through the ASI Portal which can be accessed by downloading the ASI App or visiting the ASI website. Please note that registration for Summer 2023 memberships will not open before May 30, 2023.

  • For the ASI Portal, login with Bronco username and password. Select “Memberships” on website or “BRIC Memberships” on the app. Choose the University Staff Summer Membership. A credit card is required to complete the transaction.
  • For in-person registration at the front desk of the BRIC, ask the staff to purchase a University Faculty/Staff Summer 2023 membership. Cash or credit card are accepted as forms of payment with this option. For Summer 2023, the BRIC is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

STEP 2:

Once membership is activated, the ASI app “Barcode ID” is the recommended method for facility access (scan at the turnstiles). Accommodations are available for individuals who cannot or prefer to not use the app. If needed, two forms of photo identification (e.g., Bronco Access Card and state-issued ID) can be presented to the staff at the front desk to facilitate access into the building.
