Hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research, undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines will have the opportunity to directly engage with guests and share the results of their learn-by-doing projects at the annual Cal Poly Pomona Student Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Conference (RSCA).
RSCA will be taking place on Saturday, March 4, at Ursa Major and the University Library from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.. All are welcome to attend and support Cal Poly Pomona's student researchers.
This annual event celebrates a wide range of research from students of all backgrounds. It provides an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to share their original research, scholarly and creative activities.
Approximately 250 students will be presenting at this upcoming RSCA conference. The conference's main focus is to foster an open platform tailored for undergraduate and graduate students to showcase the research they have done. It also an experience students can add to their resumes.
For the duration of their projects, students are paired with faculty mentors. The Office of Undergraduate Research recognizes faculty members who mentor students conducting, presenting, and disseminating their research in the Faculty Mentor Research Stars program.
Assistant Professor of Political Science Elli Menounou, who also is a faculty mentor star, shared that the, "RSCA conference is a good opportunity for students to share their research in a conference environment. For many students, this is their first time presenting and public speaking in this type of environment."
For this upcoming conference, Menounou mentored students as part of their senior thesis project, as well as students from the Research through Inclusive Opportunities (RIO) program.
Students who participate in this conference have the opportunity to be selected to represent CPP at the annual CSU-wide research competition.
