Welcome to Cal Poly Pomona’s Capture the Flag Event! 

 

This CTF is hosted by Cal Poly's Student Data Center. This CTF is designed to take your skills to the next level by challenging you to solve computer security problems. This CTF is designed to be fun and challenging learning tool for everyone that is interested in cyber security. Please START by joining us in the Orientation Room for an overview of the competition and learn how to use the tools.  Also, while in the orientation room, take a look at the chat for any questions that you might have.

Elementary + Middle School Level:

If you are an elementary or middle school student interested in getting more experience in computer security skills, then you are in the right place! Come join us and solve challenges to learn problem solving skills, new technologies, and many more topics! Some of these questions may be foreign to you but we promise that they are solvable. If there are any questions, please join the CTF Zoom link and we will try our best to address any of your concerns. Here at Cal Poly Pomona, we believe in learn by doing and participating in CTFs is the best way to learn by doing! The more questions you answer, the more points you get. The top competitor with the most points at the end of the competition will win prizes!


Please note: In order to be eligible for a prize, you must be competing in your corresponding grade. Winner must present a valid current school ID.

 

High School and Above Level:

Whether you are a novice or a well-seasoned cyber security student, there will be plenty of new things to learn from this CTF. These challenges will be tougher than the beginner CTF and will require foundational skills in topics including but not limited to: cryptography, programming, forensics, etc. You will probably get stumped on a few of these questions. In the event that this happens, please join us in the CTF Zoom link and we will try our best to address any of your concerns. Here at Cal Poly Pomona, we believe in learn by doing and participating in CTFs is the best way to learn by doing! The more questions you answer, the more points you get. The top competitor with the most points at the end of the competition will win prizes!

 

Prizes

The person with the top score in each section will win a Raspberry Pi 4 that has 2GB of ram. (Power not included).

 

CTF Rules:

  1. The CTF is a solo competition and teams are not allowed.
  2. Elementary and middle school students can compete in the Intro CTF and qualify for prizes.
  3. High school and above can compete in the advanced CTF and qualify for prizes.
  4. The competition will run from 10AM to 2PM.
  5. Each question will have a corresponding point value, with harder questions being worth more.
  6. Competitors win by answering questions and the person with the most points at the end will win.
  7. Winners must present valid student ID and the CTF organizers will coordinate with winners to mail out prizes.
