Volunteer for the 14th Annual Pomona Beautification Day on May 6

Students pick up fallen tree branches.

Hosted by the Center for Community Engagement and in partnership with the city of Pomona, students, faculty, and staff can now register to volunteer for the 14th Annual Pomona Beautification Day.

Cal Poly Pomona along with hundreds of other volunteers will have the opportunity to volunteer at various sites throughout the city during the event, set for Saturday, May 6 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will receive a free Bronco stamped T-shirt, breakfast, lunch from the Poly Trolley and one ticket per person to the L.A. County Fair.

This upcoming Pomona Beautification Day is the first one post pandemic, an occasion that is particularly significant to the community, said Bryant Fairley, director of the Center of Community Engagement.

"As Pomona continues to heal from the pandemic and the growing impacts of the housing crisis, it is as important as ever to help to clean litter and remove graffiti from our streets and signs of blight in our parks and reclaim our communities and neighborhoods," Fairley said. "I am hopeful our CPP campus community of students, faculty, and staff will join us in this city pride, citywide beautification effort."

Participants can register for either two volunteer projects:

  • Park Clean Up
Spruce up Civic Center Park by removing litter/trash, weeding, etc.
  • Litter/Trash Removal on Holt Ave.
Work alongside Mayor Tim Sandoval on beautifying the streets of Pomona.

Make a huge impact on the community by volunteering for just a few hours to clean up various areas of Pomona. Shuttles will pick up volunteers at the Student Services Building at 7 a.m. to be taken to Civic Center Park located in Downtown Pomona. From there, volunteers will be taken to various sites. The shuttles will return to campus by 2 p.m.
