Student Success Central

Guided Registration

If you are joining CPP as a first-time freshman, you are required to complete your GE Area A2 (Written Communication) and GE Area B4 (Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning) within your first year.

Finding Your Categories

  1. Log into MyCPP, and go to your Student Center.
  2. In the upper right hand corner, find your Holds box. If you are using a mobile device, you may need to scroll down the screen to find your Holds box. Click on the Details link.
  3. Click on the link for the Category you want to know more about. The details will tell you what Category you are placed in.

Note: These category placement holds do not prevent you from registering for classes.

Understand Your Category Placement

First-time freshmen who are in Math Category 2 in specific majors need to take the ALEKS. Please see below if your major is eligible for the ALEKS.

  • College of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, Nutrition (only Nutrition Science and Nutrition and Health options)
  • College of Engineering: All Majors
  • College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences: Economics, Quantitative option
  • College of Science: All majors except Kinesiology
  • Undeclared: Students interested in one of the above majors

If you should take the ALEKS, you will receive email and text reminders to take the in-person, proctored assessment.

More About ALEKS

To take the Directed Self-Placement (DSP) survey, please find the link in the DSP email sent to your CPP email address on or after May 15. If you cannot find that email, contact Dr. Prins at kkprins@cpp.edu from your CPP email address. (Include "DSP" in the subject line, and your Bronco ID number and a request for a new DSP link in the body of the email.)
