Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

November 15th - November 21st

Join us for a week of programming focused on student hunger and homelessness. Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is designed to educate the public, draw attention to the problem of poverty and build up the base of volunteers and supporters for local anti-poverty agencies. Follow Basic Needs on Instagram for updates and more educational resources! 

This event is brought to you by the Cal Poly Pomona Basic Needs Task Force.

Students can register for a basic needs kit to support with hygiene, PPE and other essential items related to basic needs. Kits will be mailed out directly to students.

Supporting Basic Needs in the California State University

Tuesday, Nov. 17th - 12 pm to 1 pm

Hosted by the CSU Chancellor's Office, this webinar includes a moderated panel discussion to highlight research that has informed the ways by which students’ basic needs are supported. Resources will be shared, as well as recommendations for faculty and staff on supporting students in accessing critical supports. Panelists will also highlight innovative programs and services across the 23 campuses aimed to support student success.

Hungry to Learn: Documentary Viewing & Dinner

Wednesday, Nov. 18th - 5 pm to 7 pm

Join us for a viewing of the powerful documentary “Hungry to Learn,” produced by Soledad O’Brien and Rose Acre. This is the story of how colleges, once places for children of privilege, opened their doors to students of limited means but failed to provide enough financial aid to allow these new students to graduate without making painful choices.

My Story: Understanding Student Hunger & Homelessness Panel

Thursday, Nov. 19th - 12 pm to 1 pm

Learn about CSU and campus efforts to address food and housing insecurity and hear from CPP students and staff/faculty how they have navigated student hunger and homelessness through a moderated panel.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Donate or gift a Thanksgiving dinner to a student or employee in need this year. For each complete dinner purchased, donated or gifted, CPP Dining will donate TWO single serving meals to a student in need, and you will be entered in a raffle to win a CPP gift bag full of Bronco Gear!

Students, faculty or staff who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic or other unexpected hardship can apply for a free Thanksgiving dinner package.

Feed a Bronco: Swipe Out Hunger

Students with a meal plan will be able to donate a meal to another student in need through the Broncos Care Meal Sharing Program. Residential students on campus will receive more information.
