Faculty Position Announcement: Part-Time/Temporary Lecturers in MPA

College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences

The Political Science Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites lecturers to become members of our part-time temporary lecturers pool in our Masters in Public Administration (MPA) program. Specializations in a substantive policy issue (e.g. immigration, public health, environmental justice), collaborative governance, social equity/diversity, equity, inclusion in public administration, or grant writing are welcomed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • For MPA courses, both academics or practitioners are welcomed to apply.
    • For applicants who are academics, ABD in Political Science or Public Administration required by date of application.
    • For applicants who are practitioners, an MPA (by date of application) and minimum of 5 years’ experience in government or nonprofit organizations required.
  • For all courses, teaching experience with evidence (from letter of recommendation, teaching evaluations, etc.) of teaching excellence preferred.

Appointments

Part-time, temporary lecturer appointments are usually made for one academic semester (approximately 16 weeks) at fractions usually ranging from 4/15 to 12/15 of full-time; multiple semester appointments are possible. Incumbents may be reappointed to subsequent semester contingent upon funding and favorable performance evaluations.

Placement into a range is based on qualifications and experience. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.
