Broken Handrail Forces Closure of Escalator at University Library
Summary of disruption: The lobby escalator that serves the University Library (Building 15) has been shut down because of a broken handrail. A replacement handrail has been ordered and preparation for the repair are underway. The escalator is expected to resume service by Saturday, Oct. 25.
Reason for disruption: Allow a contractor crew to replace a damaged handrail on the escalator.
How does this affect me? Library staff and visitors are urged to use stairways and elevators in the building until the escalator repair is completed.
