Four Buildings to Undergo Elevator Fire Safety Tests Starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24

Summary of disruptions: State-mandated testing of the fire safety systems in elevators at four buildings is scheduled on Tuesday, June 24, Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 26. Testing is scheduled each day from approximately 8 a.m. to noon. The affected buildings and days are:

Tuesday, June 24: 8 a.m. to noon

College of Science (Building 3)

College of Environmental Design (Building 7)

Wednesday, June 25: 8 a.m. to noon

College of Science (Building 3)

College of Environmental Design (Building 7)

Thursday, June 26: 8 a.m. to noon

University Library (Building 15)

Parking Structure 2 (Building 107)

Reason for disruption: Comply with state laws to ensure that elevator controls initiate proper procedures when fire alarm is activated.

How does this affect me? Fire alarms and strobe lights may be activated during testing. HVAC systems may undergo temporarily shutdowns. Elevators will be intermittently out of service. Please use stairways if an elevator is shut down.

What do I need to do? If fire alarms are heard after the scheduled testing period, evacuate the building. Please share this information with others in the buildings who may have not received this message.
