The Compass

Great California Shakeout Drill Scheduled on Oct. 20 at 11:40 a.m.

Summary of the drill: The Great California Shakeout drill will occur on Thursday, Oct 20, at 11:40 a.m. The drill is intended to educate and prepare the campus community to react quickly and practice safe emergency procedures when a real earthquake occurs and test our Safety Alert System.

What will happen during the drill? Students, faculty, and staff will receive a safety alert message on their cell phones, network phones, email, and computer pop-up. Follow the directions in the message to drop/lock, cover, and hold on for 60 seconds.

How does this affect me? Participating in the drill better prepares you to act and take the necessary steps to keep yourself and others safe. Proper practice is the best preparation for emergency situations.

What do I need to do? Follow instructions in the safety alert message received during the drill.
