About Data Governance
At Cal Poly Pomona, data governance is an institutionally shared collection of processes, policies, and metrics that ensure the reliability and effective use of information to promote data-informed decision-making and to reveal data insights that assist in promoting student success and achieving our strategic initiatives.
Data governance is not active day-to-day data oversight, but rather a common understanding of our data, commitment to the quality of our data, and continuously improved management of our data.
Data governance supports informed decision-making practices through the use of data systems, data tools, and data analysts. Reliable data gained through shared data governance elevate the processes of asking data questions; identifying success metrics, data collection; data analysis and data insights; informed decision-making; and dissemination.
