Annual McNair Scholars Undergraduate Symposium

3:00 PM to 5:00 PM - The Kellogg West Conference Center-Hillside: After a year of research, 26 students in Cal Poly Pomona’s McNair Scholars Program are set to present their findings at the Annual McNair Scholars Research Symposium on Thursday, April 25, from 3:00-4:45 p.m., in the Kellogg West Conference Center- Hillside. Each McNair scholar chose a professor who guided the student’s research project from proposal to final paper. Research topics range from modeling the effect on tumor growth using chemotherapy and immunotherapy to understanding the experiences of undocumented college students. The McNair Scholars Program is named for Ronald E. McNair, best known as one of the astronauts aboard the 1986 Challenger shuttle. The federally funded program encourages first-generation, low-income or underrepresented students to earn doctoral degrees through involvement with research, mentors, seminars and financial aid.

This celebration of student research will take place on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 12 to 2 p.m. in the University Quad in front of Building 8. Students conducting research in the College of Science are invited to participate in the 14th Annual Science Research Symposium.

Avoiding Plagiarism Workshop

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM - 15-Library, 2nd floor, room 2907: The University Library and the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity are offering four sessions of "Avoiding Plagiarism Workshop" for the Spring 2019 Semester as follows: Tuesday, February 12th, Thursday, March 28th, Tuesday, April 16th, and Tuesday, May 7th. The venue for all three sessions is Room 2907 in the University Library at 12:00-1:00 p.m. each day. Participants will learn different types of plagiarism, how to avoid it, University guidelines on plagiarism and much more!
