PUBLICATIONS
- Published 18 books (including all editions) on digital logic, microprocessors, and microcontrollers which have been translated into Russian, Chinese, and Spanish. Dr. Rafiquzzaman authored his books with John Wiley, Prentice-Hall, CRC Press, Harper & Row, and West/PWS. He published his first book on microprocessors with Wiley in 1982. - Published over 40 papers in microprocessor and microcontroller-based applications.

INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE
- 1989-Present, Founder and President of Rafi Systems Inc., California, manufacturer of intraocular (cataract implant) lenses using state-of-the-art microprocessor/microcontroller-based CNC machines.
- Vice President of New Bedford Panaromex Corporation, Santa Fe Springs, California during the 80’s. Involved in designing microprocessor-based Airport Remote Maintenance system for FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), Washington, D.C.

-Worked full-time for ESSO (EXXON) and Bell Northern Research for approximately 5 years during the 70’s.

-Consulted for ARCO, Rockwell, Los Angeles County, and Ralph M. Parsons Corporation in the areas of computer applications. From 1984 to 1989, Dr. Rafiquzzaman was the instructor for Motorola in Southern California teaching short courses on Motorola 16-bit and 32-bit microprocessors for local industries, including Hughes Aircraft, Lockheed, Northrop, TRW, Boeing, Ford Aerospace, General Dynamics, McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell. During the 80's, he was also involved in the ''Space Shuttle'' project.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
-From 2004 to 2008, Dr. Rafiquzzaman was a member of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's economic recovery team for California.

-In 1984, Dr. Rafiquzzaman managed the Olympic Swimming, Diving and Synchronized Swimming events in Los Angeles. He is currently a chartered member of the 'Sixth Ring' of the US Olympic committee.

-From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Rafiquzzaman was an advisor to the US House Policy Committee's Technology Board. During the 80's, he was Co-chair of ''The President's Forum'' for the state of California.

-Because of several years of teaching and industrial experience along with reputation as an established author in the computer field, Dr. Rafiquzzaman was invited by IUCEE (Indo-US Collaboration for Engineering Education) to conduct a workshop on microprocessors at the Infosys, India facility. The purpose of this workshop was to train several professors from various Indian universities with the state-of-the art in microprocessors. The goal of this workshop was to train the professors to enhance their teaching capabilities.

-Dr. Rafiquzzaman was Computer advisor to the President of Bangladesh from 1989 to 1990. In this capacity, he started ''Bangladesh Computer Council'', and was the pioneer in implementing policies and devising infrastructures for computer applications in
Bangladesh.

-During the 80's, Dr. Rafiquzzaman was an expert member of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology). In this capacity, he was involved as an external expert in recommending faculty members for promotion to Professors and Associate Professors. Also, during the 80's, he was involved with Dr. Patwari, VC, BUET in developing the CSEE curriculum.

-From 1974 to 1978, Dr. Rafiquzzaman was founder and captain of ''Sarnia Cricket Club'', Ontario, Canada. In fact, he was the founder of the team in 1974. He was also a member of the ''Sarnia Soccer Team'' from 1974 to 1978.

PHILONTHROPY
-In 1984, Dr. Rafiquzzaman offered a scholarship at BUET under his father's name entitled ''Altaf Hossain fellowship''.
-Involved in providing financial assistance to ''Food Relief International'' for helping the poor people of Bangladesh. This non-profit organization was founded by the late Mother Rytasha of USA.
