Subject: COVID-19 Compliance: Faculty Guidance

Dear Faculty,

Students who remain out of compliance with the CSU COVID-19 Vaccination Interim Policy received notification that they will lose access to Canvas effective February 4, 2022.

They also received a registration hold preventing them from adding more classes to Spring 2022 and enrolling in future terms. Students will lose access to Canvas but will remain enrolled in their courses and their work and grades already in Canvas will not be removed.

Below you will find guidance on how to address the concerns of students affected by this action. Additionally, a copy of the communication sent to students is provided at the bottom of this email.

Guidance for Faculty:

  • Do not ask students about their medical/vaccination history. Please refer them to the appropriate office if there are questions/concerns:
    • If a student reaches out to a faculty member about loss of access to Canvas and general questions about the vaccine requirement, please instruct the student to contact the Health Center at (909) 869-4000 or health@cpp.edu (per the instructions on the provided communication) to inquire about the steps to regain access to Canvas.
    • If a student feels that the loss of access to Canvas is in error, please instruct them to contact the Health Center at (909) 869-4000 or health@cpp.edu to resolve the matter.
    • If a student mentions they have already completed one of the policy’s requirements, please instruct the student to contact the Health Center at (909) 869-4000 or health@cpp.edu to resolve the matter.
  • Please do not provide course materials that are only accessible through Canvas to students who have lost access to Canvas due to COVID-19 non-compliance. This includes emailing materials that are accessible through Canvas to the student. Assisting students in this way may deter them from becoming compliant with the COVID-19 policy.
  • Faculty should not and are not responsible for helping students make up the work that they missed from loss of access to Canvas. If students make such requests, please refer them to the communication below.
