Dear campus community,

In light of the recent changes to the LA County health order, we want to share an important reminder about our university’s protocol for face coverings/masks. Face coverings are required on campus, both indoors and outdoors, with a few exceptions.

For indoor locations, face coverings are required for all individuals regardless of vaccination status. They can be removed when you are alone in a room or when you are eating or drinking, provided that others are at least 6 feet away from you.

For outdoor locations, face coverings should be worn unless you are alone outdoors. Fully vaccinated individuals can choose to remove their mask outdoors, even when other people are present. However, face coverings must be worn when attending crowded events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals and sports events, where physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Due to substantial transmission of COVID-19, Los Angeles County updated its health order over the weekend to require face coverings for all individuals in all indoor public locations. As we are located in LA County, we will continue to follow county protocols, as well as those of state, CSU and other regulatory agencies, and we must abide by the most stringent of those protocols. We last updated our face coverings protocols in early June, and we will continue to share changes with you via email, Safer Return News and the Safer Return website.

Finally, we encourage everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19. It’s the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones and our campus community. It will slow the spread of COVID-19, including the variants, and it will also help lower the chance of new and more dangerous variants emerging. Vaccines are widely available throughout the region. Visit MyTurn to find a walk-in location or to make an appointment.

If you have questions about the face covering protocol or how to get vaccinated, email us at saferreturn@cpp.edu.
