Program Eligibility Requirements

The Renaissance Scholars program admits Scholars who demonstrate the potential and motivation to achieve their educational goals. Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Must be a current or former foster youth
  • Must provide verification documents of foster care status
  • Must be a California resident or an AB 540/2000 nonresident tuition exemption student 

Application Steps

Must apply & qualify for admission to Cal Poly Pomona as a freshman OR transfer student. To apply please head over to www2.calstate.edu/apply

Stongly Recommended to apply for EOP (Educational Opportunity Program). This application is found with in Cal State Apply.

Must Apply to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) by the Priority Deadline of March 2nd

Must complete the online application for Renaissance Scholars (RS):
  • Prospective CPP Students - Apply by January 15th
  • Current CPP Students - Apply now for next semester

Must interview for the Renaissance Scholars program.

Renaissane Scholars offers Fostering Success Drop-in Services to Cal Poly Pomona students with a lived experience in foster care.  To access drop-in services students must have a verified foster care status through Renaissance Scholars.
